Joe was a great friend and one of the classiest human beings we have ever known. There was so much to admire in Joe, such as his generosity of spirit; his ability to get along with virtually anybody; his eclectic pursuits - being equally at home at North Levittown Lanes or the Huntington Arts Cinema; his ability to maintain his dignity at all times - even after he got sick; his natural curiosity about the world and the way he became a self-taught, well-educated man; and his love for his family and friends. Every moment spent with Joe & Sandi was memorable, but a couple of standouts would be our trip to Boston about 18 years ago; Joe's 50th birthday party with Joe and his brothers doing karaoke together; and having Joe & Sandi surprise Lynda for her birthday by joining us at a restaurant on the North Fork a few years ago. In sum, you could never get too much of Joe and he - and his friendship - never got "old."

There are people that make a difference in your life. There are people that just make the room a lot brighter when they walk in. Joe is that person, to the utmost degree. He always greeted you with a smile on his face, and always made you feel like you were the most important person in the room. There are very few people that can do that. Whether it was playing for the Gray Panthers, the Bowling league, or just hanging out at the bar, he was a true gentlemen, and a great singer too. Joe - Claire and I will miss your infectious personality and zest for life. We know that you are at peace, and we know that world is a little less happy without you around; but the angels and all that are in heaven are awaiting your place with them. God bless you, Sandy, and all of your family in this time of mourning, and know that you were indeed loved by so many.

Joe and I worked together at Avis WHQ until I moved in 1977. We still kept in contact over many years and many changes in life. I beleive Joe was one of the finest and most decent people I have ever known. Sandy, the family and the world have lost a truly great man.
