Obituary of Nicholas J. DeSantis

DESANTIS, Sr. – Nicholas J, Age 93, of East Norwich, LI, passed away peacefully on April 12th. Beloved husband of wife Alice for 67 years. Loving father of Daughter Susan and Son Nicholas Jr. Beloved Grandfather of Christian and Matthew. Also survived by his loving nieces, nephew, relatives, and friends. Nick enlisted 1941 with the United States Army and served overseas with the 92nd Bombardment Group of the 8th Air Force Organization from May 1943- December 1945. Nick served with pride and was a former VFW Commander Post #8033 and active member of the American Legion Post. Upon returning to the States, Nick met Alice and soon married. Nick's career with Consolidated Edison commenced in 1947, where he initially started his career as a machinist, advanced to Maintenance Supervisor, and concluded his 38 year career as Training Administrator for Con Edison's Power Supply Training Center. Nick was well loved and a respected member of the East Norwich/Oyster Bay Community, faithful parishioner and Event Organizer for Saint Dominic's RC Church, proud member and served on the Executive Boards for Italian American Citizens Club of Oyster Bay, East Norwich Beautification Committee and Civic Organizations, and founding member of the North Shore Rotary Club.
