Obituary of Augustine Waldon

Waldon, Augustine ("Peggy") – on Jan. 1, 2018, age 96, of Oyster Bay, NY.

Peggy Carl Waldon was born August 25, 1921 in Norristown Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of Daisy Burrell Carl and Joseph B. Carl. Her mother went to Norristown only to give birth, then retruned to Oyster Bay L.I., were she lived with her husband. On April 2nd 1924 her brother Joseph Carl was born. Unfortunately in the that same year Joseph Sr. died of a heart attack. The family remained in Oyster Bay for 5 more years, then moved to Jamaica, New York. Peggy attended the public school system in Queens, and graduated from Jamaica High School in 1940.

During World War II, Peggy was employed by the U.S. Post Office, eventually attaining the psoition of Supervisor.

In 1960, Peggy left the post office to open her own business, with the help of her mother Daisy. The next 35 years saw Peggy's, Skylark Bar and Grill become one of the favorite clubs of Queens.

In 1972, Peggy married Charles W. Waldon, they had a wonderful marriage, they traveled and enjoyed the many things New York City had to offer. In 1990 Charles passed away. In 1995 her beloved mother passed away. Also in 1995 Peggy sold her business, and moved back to Oyster Bay.

She is survived by her nephew Joseph Nix, niece Denice Sheppard (Kelly). Three God Daughters, Simone Townson, Cheryl Sheppard, and Javonne Carl. Grandchildren Saide, Selena, Sergio. Also survived by many loving friends and extended family members. She is predeceased by her brother Joseph H. (Jane) and her nephew Joseph W. Carl (Vera).
