Ms. Catina Barbara Diane Cortes The funeral for Ms. Catina Barbara Diane Cortes will be at 11am-1:30pm, Saturday, June 14, 2014 at Oyster Bay Funeral Home in Oyster Bay, NY, with Reverend Dr. Doretha E. Custis officiating. Burial will be in Pine Hollow, Oyster Bay Cemetery in Oyster Bay, NY. Visitation will be held from 11am to 12pm on Saturday, June 14, 2014 at Oyster Bay Funeral Home. Ms. Catina Barbara Diane Cortes., 25 of Middle Island, NY, passed away Tuesday June 3, 2014 at Prince Georges, MD. Ms. Catina Cortes was born on April 23 1989, in Syosset, NY, to Diane Cortes and Luciano Cortes, Jr. She was the youngest child and only sister of her sibling, Luciano 3rd. Catina's father has three other sons Justin, Louis, and Selwyn. Catina was a fun vibrant child who loved to dance. She learned to talk before she turned one years old and was speaking in full sentences by two years old. Catina loved to swim and by 10 years old she could swim half the length of an Olympic pool. She had a great sense of humor like her grandfather, the late Rufus Evans. Catina's jokes and smile would brighten any room with laughter. Catina graduated from Walt Whitman High School in June 2007 in Huntington Station, New York. She received a Lifetime Certificate of Achievement Auxiliary Scholarship. Catina loved art and writing as her hobbies. She was a very easy person to love because she always was so welcoming to others. Catina worked on and off as a Home Health Aide, and enjoyed working with children in the community. Catina was a child of God and often talked about how God knows her heart. Catina's mental health challenges were in her way of many plans of success. However, her family supported every goal she hoped to achieve. Catina loved visiting her mother's sisters and her cousins. She had a very close relationship with her mother and her brother Luciano 3rd, and loved being an Aunt. Catina leaves her loving family and friends with memories. Mother Diane Cortes (Leroy) Jones, Father Luciano Jr. Cortes(Debbie),Grand Mother Niami Hults, brothers Luciano 3rd, Justin, Louis, Selwyn, Niece Viridiana, Aunts Nancy Cortes, Denise (Michael) Yeargin, Mary (Kim) Walker, Beverly (Trent) Levine, Ruby (late, Roosevelt) Murray, Barbara Ann Gibson(late, Bernard)Patella, ,Uncles William Cortes, David Cortes, Rufus Lee (Victoria) Evans Jr., and a host of Great-Aunts, Great-Uncles, Cousins, and Friends. Catina is preceded in death by both of her maternal grandparents, paternal grandfather, Auntie Linda, Auntie Pam, Uncle Roosevelt, Uncle Clifford, and Uncle Bernard. ~Love All of Us
