I first met Robert through his sister, Anne, at one of the Troxler family gatherings at Colonel and Mrs. Troxler's home in Alexandria. Anne and I went to school together at the University of Maryland, Munich Campus, Germany in the '1960s, we have been close friends ever since, and the Troxler's included me in many holiday celebrations. I was just out of law school when I met Robert (or Robin as Anne affectionately called him).
As I told Anne, there was something special about her brother, and the way he carried himself. I was always impressed by his intelligence, his low key, assured manner, and easy nature. Not trying to, he could hold the floor with a few well-chosen words, and I felt he could take the measure of a person within a few seconds. He made a real impression on me, and he struck me as one of those rare men who possessed the intelligence, the inner discipline, and the quiet ability to have found success in any field he chose. He just had a way about him, and I paid attention.
My deepest sympathies to Anne and the Troxler family.
