Obituary of Cyndy Kellogg

Please share a memory of Cyndy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Cynthia Lutz Kellogg passed away peacefully in her sleep in Oyster Bay, N.Y., on June 26, 2025, after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s Disease, at the age of 67.

Cynthia, or “Cyndy,” as most of her friends and family called her, was born on Aug. 14, 1957 in  Woodbury, N.J. to Lorene and Edgar Lutz.

She graduated cum laude from Tufts University in 1979 with a Bachelor of Arts in Child Study.

After graduating, she worked as a teacher in early childhood education and elementary school.

She met her future husband David Kellogg at a friend’s wedding and moved to Long Island, NY, before marrying, in 1985.

Nothing gave Cyndy more pride and fulfillment than raising her three children–Scott, Julia, and Laura.

On top of motherhood, Cyndy gave back to the community as a Girl Scout Leader, volunteering at the school, teaching adult literacy and as a hospital volunteer.

Cyndy loved traveling, dancing, long lunches with her friends, and impromptu sing-alongs with her sisters in the kitchen. She was always there for her family and friends, such as during her father’s struggle with Alzheimer’s.

She broadened her husband’s horizons with plays in New York City and adventurous trips across the globe.

Cyndy is survived by her husband, David, her three children, Scott (Mariel), Julia and Laura, her grandson, Marco, and her siblings, Nancy, Debbie, Arlan and Mark.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Long Island Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association, the Freedom From Religion Foundation, or the National Partnership for Women & Families in memory of Cynthia Kellogg.

Memorial Visitation will be held at Oyster Bay Funeral Home, 261 South St., on Monday July 7th from 4-7 p.m. The Funeral will be held Tuesday, July 8 at 11:00 a.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Huntington, with a light repast to follow, 109 Browns Road Huntington, NY 11743
