Douglas Scott Johnson (1962-2026)
Douglas Scott Johnson, 64, passed away February 7, 2026 with his family by his side. He was born at Glen Cove Community Hospital in Glen Cove, New York to Walter and Rose Johnson. Douglas grew up in Lloyd Neck where his father taught him many woodworking skills, a hobby they enjoyed practicing together, both of them becoming talented woodworkers. Doug attended Cold Spring Harbor High School and graduated from St. Lawrence University. A member of the Class of 1984, Doug was also a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity. Earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government, Doug went on to get his MBA at Pace University. Growing up in Lloyd Neck, Douglas spent many summers sailing on Long Island Sound, and as a teenager, he and his teammates were known to hide another club's burgee during the height of race week. He loved skiing, fly fishing, sporting clays, and he enjoyed playing paddle tennis and golf with his family in Locust Valley.
Douglas served on the vestry at St John's of Lattingtown, served as the President of the Long Island Paddle Tennis Association and was a member of The Piping Rock Club. Douglas was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Rose Johnson and is survived by his sons Stark and Riggs and their mother, Emily. A memorial service will be held at St. John's of Lattingtown, Locust Valley, New York on April 16, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be directed to:
