Obituary of L. Stoddard Horn
HORN--L. Stoddard. age 90, of Locust Valley, NY died peacefully on July 16, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Born and raised in New York City, Stoddy graduated from The Buckley School and Phillips Exeter Academy and attended Yale. He spent his career as a partner at Benton, Corcoran, Leib & Co. on the New York Stock Exchange. A man of quiet strength, Stoddy was known for his honesty, kindness, and generosity. He never sought the spotlight, yet his steady presence brought comfort and confidence to those around him. He believed in keeping his word, working hard, and treating everyone with respect - values that defined a life well lived. Above all, Stoddy was devoted to his family. He was a loving husband of 67 years to his wife, Leslie; a proud father; and a cherished grandfather and great-grandfather. The lessons he taught rarely came through words but through the examples he set every day: be dependable, be compassionate, and always make time for the people who matter. Stoddy found joy in life's enduring pleasures. Saturdays in Southampton belonged to golf with the legendary Dawn Patrol at National Golf Links, a tradition built on early tee times, laughter and friendships that lasted a lifetime. He was a lifelong, dedicated New York sports fan. He was equally content at home in his favorite chair with a glass of scotch, a good book, and a ballgame. Stoddy is survived by his wife, Leslie; his four children, Stoddard A.M. Horn, Anthony G. Horn, Christina H. Wilmerding, and Stephanie H. Moulton; his 13 grandchildren, and two great- grandchildren.
