I only saw this notice by accident today. I am sorry to see that Charlie passed away. My connection goes back to soccer games and our sons. I always saw Charlie as a gentle man who always had a smile. I am sure that he will be missed.
My deepest sympathies to you and your family.
You are in my prayers.
Peggy, Liz, Charlie and Meg: I am so sorry for the loss of your husband and Dad! While I did not know Charlie very well I saw him as a gentle giant who was incredibly wise beyond his years! While I am sure he was greeted in heaven by Mr. and Mrs. Healy and his family members, there is such an incredible void in your lives and I am so sorry you have to deal with that.
But I wanted to share an early memory of Charlie as he was dating his future wife, Peggy.
Radcliffe Manor where we all grew up was a neighborhood where everyone knew everyone even if you lived in the "back" of the neighbor hood!!:). Hence I was pretty good at knowing our neighbor's cars! BTW it was very unusual that there was more than one family car! If I am not mistaken Peggy drove a Mustang. But all of a sudden I started to see this really cool Mercedes rounding the corner onto Radcliffe Drive. As I knew the Healy family I would occasionally walk over to their house no visit as Kate and I were in the HS play together. Then I noticed that blue Mercedes was in front of the Healy homestead! While I cannot remember how long Charlie and Peggy dated they finally tied the knot in 1973! And the rest is history!!
Please know you are in my thoughts and prayers in the days ahead! Sadly we lost my Mom in early June as Charlie began his final journey to heaven.
Fondly, Anne Marie
Charles Parente, so much to enjoy and remember about him...
At the Cradle of Aviation Museum in Garden City, NY, Charles was our consumate "gentleman guide" for over 15 years.
He always enjoyed speaking to all of our museum guests, groups, and individuals, as they in turn enjoyed his way of sharing historic interesting facts enlighting them about the LM Apollo moon landings, and aviation. He had a dry, intellectual humor and dedicated communication with all CAM guests as they were absorbed in his talks.
I had the pleasure and priviledge of working with him, and getting to know him over the past 6 years.
I am glad that he shared with me his experiences such as:
--He was instrumental as a key man in acoustics analysis and engineer in both the Navy and Grumman, having worked on the Gulfstream jet, and new engine muffling technology, and co-invented the engine acoustic muffling inside edge ring used in thousands of today's quieter flying civil jets on many airlines.
--He also did noise analysis for vibration tests on the Apollo Lunar Modules (LMs) at the Grumman Bethpage sound lab, essential for their final design. These tests allowed all 6 of our lunar spacecraft get to and land on the moon without unsafe vibration damage from their tremendously powerful launches in Florida.
I will miss him, as we all will.
(...Here's to you Charles,
our friend forever)

All of us at BBB were so sorry to hear of your Dad’s passing, and know that we are thinking of you and your family during this most difficult time.
To Mourners of Charles Parente:
As a fellow employee at Grumman who didn't meet Charlie until we both became docents at the Cradle of Aviation Museum, I want to extend my personal feeling of sadness. For several years, he and I spent Thursdays in the Apollo Lunar Module Galleries telling visitors about that remarkable achievement.
Few people I've ever known displayed the grace and quiet charm Charlie did. I have missed him these past few years, but his enviable human attributes have never left my memory.
I hope his loved ones find some comfort in knowing one friend's
response to their loss.
Sincerest condolences from the entire Yorke team. We're thinking of you and here if you need anything.
