I only knew Denise through my son Zachary McWaters . I was able to meet her once when Oliver and Zachary graduated from the merchant marine academy in 2004 and she hosted an open house for Zachary and Oliver. Denise opened her home to my son and gave of her warmth and compassion all through his years at the academy. He spoke of sleeping all weekend at her home and being so comfortable there. For a mom who was thousands of miles away this gave me great comfort. She was truly a loving, remarkable woman and I am sure she will be missed by many. Carol McWaters

To the Fox family
I first met Ms. Denise Fox back in 2010 when I became a freshman at Holy Cross High School. I knew her throughout my high school years. She would always welcome me in the library and was very social. The news of her death surprised me and I wish you all my sincerest condolences.

We are all saddened to lose such a wonderful presence at Holy Cross. Mrs. Fox had a strong commitment to Catholic education and to our students. She was an intelligent and compassionate teacher and librarian. I will miss her presence in the library, and our conversations about favorite books. Our prayers are with her family in their grief, but our faith assures us that death is not the end.
