Obituary of Corinne Serra

Serra, Corinne – on Nov. 29, 2016, age 89, of Bayville, NY. Beloved aunt of Cynthia Willenbacher (Donald), Richard (Linda), Robert (Linda), and Corinne Smith (Lawrence). Loving great aunt of ten grand nieces and nephews and six great grand nieces and nephews. Dear sister in law of Rose (the late Harold). Corinne was an entrepreneur- a woman born ahead of her time. She grew up during the depression, and never forgot the struggle her parents endured. She quit school at age 16 to help supplement income and later attended night school to complete her education. She passed an exam with the U.S State Department, and the following 16 years was employed by the Office of War Information, The U.S. Delegation to the United Nations, and the U.S. Radiological Defense Laboratory. She had the pleasure of working with Eleanor Roosevelt, John Foster Dulles, and Norman Cousins, to name a few. She eventually established her own wholesale/retail marine supply business, Corlee Products Inc., in Oyster Bay, NY. As the company prospered she invested in property in NY, FL, NC, and NV. She was a lover of animals and a philanthropist. She donated a wing to the Bayville Public Library, and continuously supported children and animal welfare funds. In lieu of flowers donations to the North Shore Animal League, 25 Davis Ave., Port Washington, NY 11050 would be appreciated.
