 IN LOVING MEMORY

Guarino, John- on November 10, 2017,at age 92, of Ozone Park, NY. He was a special man who sacrificed everything for his three daughters, Margaret, Patricia Marino (Bill), and Donna. He worked as a laborer installing shower doors and later drove a taxi for over forty years. His devotion to his daughters allowed them to attend Catholic School, summer camp and modest but eventful holiday vacations. To know John was to understand the great respect he held for his mother and father. His mother was born in Ireland and his father in Italy and together they fulfilled the American Dream of twelve children, John having an identical twin brother. The love he felt for them was equally expressed in his love for his grandchildren, Benny (Elisa), Victoria (Kevin), Mara (Paul), Michael (Alexandra), and Alexander. He was also the proud great grandfather of five. The little things that made him happy revolved around family. Having dinner, a good glass of wine or two, in the early days a cigar. He like many of his era was frugal but wished only great things for his children and grandchildren. John had many friends, enjoyed watching sports, especially the Yankees. He also felt a great passion for the love of country. His patriotism may today for some seem old fashioned. It's effect is clear on those around him who also embrace his love of country. While we will miss John we know he is in a better place. There is no doubt that the hundreds of special moments spent together will live on in each of our memories.
