Valerie was a very good friend for many years. One of her two great passions, horse racing, was what brought us together, as I met her at Hialeah during the twilight of that great track's golden period.
She was also a great cat lover, and I had the pleasure of spending time with at least five sweet ones that she cared for over the years.
Almost invariably upbeat, and gifted with a sharp wit, Valerie will undoubtedly be missed by all of those who knew her.
Condolences to her sister, and to her extended family.
