Condolences to the Petrella Family. Mrs. Petrella was another mom to me as a teenager and always welcomed me into her home. Many years have passed but Joan and Anita, I still have the warmest of memories for your mother. My prayers go out to your family.

Our deepest condolences to Dominic, Joan, Anita, Richard and family. What an honor to live next door to beautiful Anne, the matriarch of Ivy Street! She always had a great joke to tell or a good song to sing or a delicious homemade pizza to share or a captivating story to tell. We will miss her smile and her kindness, but will hold dear all our great memories of her and our times together.

Uncle Dom, Anita, Joan, Richard, Rich and Lorraine – I wanted to send my sympathies and prayers in your loss of Aunt Dolly. I was trying to think of a single memory to share, but in my mind, it isn’t a moment with her but the combination of so many moments that make her stand out in my mind as a smiling, singing, hugging, laughing, warm woman. I can hear her voice and her laugh even now. I can see her with Aunt Lucy and Aunt Gloria at Grandma’s house. I see her carrying in a pan of her famous pizza!! I can hear her saying my Dad’s name and I remember her with Uncle Dom. When I was maybe 10, I remember opening a birthday present she made for me – a ceramic figurine of a girl in an old-fashioned dress with a music box that played Raindrops Keep Falling On Your Head. It made me feel so special that she made it herself, just for me. I still have it.
Late in life, my Mom would tell the story of when she and Aunt Dolly went to New York to buy nylons which were still hard to get right after WWII. They were so excited! And when they got them home and opened the packages, they were all misshapen – some too long, some ridiculously short or too wide. My Mom loved this story because they apparently just laughed and laughed about what they’d gotten after being so excited to think about what they thought they were buying. She was still laughing about this 70 years later! That was Aunt Dolly’s effect on people, I think.
I am just so sorry for your loss and will keep you all close. I will always remember her. With so much love, Judy
