I am so sorry to hear of Mr. Turano’s passing. I had the honor of taking care of him at the hospital over the past several years. He was always very kind and a real gentleman. He lit up when he spoke about his family. I’m very sorry for your loss.

Sincere condolences to Patti and all of Tom's family. Except for his struggles in the last few years all my memories of Tom bring a smile to my face. Great loyal friend. Lived large and brought joy to so many.
Sure there are many memories; but when I think of Tom I think of bravery, creativity, intelligence and good cheer.

We were so sorry to hear of Tom's passing.. Because of his warm personality, writing ability, and knowledge of good food and fine wine, he was a perfect fit for St. James Plantation. All who knew him enjoyed being in his company and he lived the life of a perfect Marine, who fought to the end.
Patti, we send you our deepest condolences and regret that we could not get to know you better while you were in Southport. I do know how much you loved Tom and how you made every occasion with you a time of great laughter. You both will be remembered in our thoughts and prayers. Peter and Marianne Riley

Uncle Tommy was such an amazing man, he filled our lives with so much joy and happiness and always knew how to light up a room. I'll always remember the times we had together growing up especially around the holidays, he made sure everyone felt at home and really made those times special for the entire family. He will be missed but the memories he helped create will live on forever, rest in peace.

Tom was one tough Marine. He never gave up his painful battle against cancer over the last 6 years. We met Tom and Patti in 2009 when we both moved to St James. We became close friends right away. We had a lot in common. Tom and I were described by our wives as a little anal, somewhat stubborn, thick headed, and over opinionated. We both liked cars and trucks.
Tom and Patti were married 50 years this past November. Who would of thought an Italian and Irish wedding would last that long? Upon his honorable discharge from the Marines, he attended and then graduated from St. Johns University. Tom had a successful career in Sales and Marketing in the Consumer Package Industry. He was a creative writer and published articles in numerous publications, as well as the local St. James Cat Tales. Tom's creativity expanded into entertaining, as an outstanding cook, his motto was "GO BIG OR GO HOME." His specialties including Aunt Rose's spinach pie, Black Forest Cake, Sunday sauce, homemade pizza and his chocolate covered biscotti. He always had a story to tell. As the family gets together to celebrate Tom's life, remember the frozen turkey on Thanksgiving when the fire department was called.
Tom was a great handyman, no project too big or too small. His hobbies beside cooking included golf, fishing, and boating. You could often find him in his yard trimming, weeding or cutting. He also loved to sew.
We miss him. He will always be in our hearts. Mac & Nancy McIntosh.
