A beautiful soul, my beautiful friend. Words can’t express my sorrow and how much I am going to miss you. Thank you for seeing something in me and showing me the ‘person’ side of education. I apply what you have taught me everyday and will always keep your lessons with me. I’ll always remember the key and why we do what we do for those we support. I will miss our talks and how much two unlikely pair could have so much in common and have such a connection. My heart hurts now but is forever grateful for having known you. I am a better person because of you! I think all who have meet you could say them same. Thank you my dear friend for the love, support, friendship, mentorship, and everything else.
My most sincere condolences to Daddy Don, Nieve, and sister Nancy along with all other family. Thank you for sharing Marianne with us, she has made the world a much more beautiful place. I know she is with Barbara and the countless children and animals she helped (the welcome had to be a very crowded event!). My love and thoughts are with you.

With each event that we worked on, Marianne always kept me on my musical toes with her unexpected choices of music & challenging arrangements.
Always the musical visionary, she knew exactly how the music was to be performed & presented.
I’m honored to have worked for a person that gave me many opportunities to grow in my musical profession. Thank you Marianne, I’m really going to miss you.

To say Marianne Klotz changed the lives of my entire family forever would not be an understatement. When my daughter was 8, over 30 years ago, she was in a terrible residential program where she was injured and we had to find another placement for her. Having heard of AHRC from a family friend, we spoke to Marianne who told us to bring her right over. Sandy and I were concerned because our daughter’s Sturge-Weber and her behaviors at the time made her a real challenge. Marianne met Lauren, said she had the perfect class for her, and told us to leave her for the day. We sat by the phone waiting for the call to tell us to come get her, that it wouldn’t work. The call never came and when we went to pick her up, Lauren didn’t want to leave. That day began a new chapter in our lives. Lauren was able to live at home and an amazing transformation in her personality, behavior, manners, and self-confidence began that took her from a young girl who only spoke in three word sentences, wouldn’t make eye contact, and referred to herself only in the third person to an outgoing, friendly, and talkative adult who is, no matter what, the happiest person I know. Her teacher at AHRC Nassau was a big part of that, but without Marianne’s insight, vision, and belief that she could improve the lives of all children, it never would have happened. A tremendous loss.

Marianne and Barbara Huber were the two of the most incredible women I have ever met they were literally angels on earth. I moved to New York in 1983 and my son, David went to their program at age 11months for physical therapy, then as David became old enough, he started at the Brookville program. Marianne and Barbara became my family in New York. Barbara was David's teacher, Marianne his physical therapist. Marianne and Barbara were always there to help me above and beyond their job at the school. Helping me through some very difficult times, always with a positive attitude. and sense of humor. Nieve loved "Baby David" and came to his birthday parties and visited us at our home.
I will always be forever grateful to having met Marianne and Barbara and the impact they both made on my life and I will miss them both very much.
Condolences and love to Marianne's family. In my heart forever.

My deepest and heartfelt condolences to Marianne's daughter, Nieve, and her husband, Donald. You have impacted so many people's lives in such an immeasurable way. The lasting impact being the individuals you so strongly advocated for in the numerous years of your career at AHRC/BCCS. You devoted your whole life to improving the lives of a vulnerable population. In the numerous conversations we had, I always felt that you treated me as an equal (a quality not all bosses have). I remember on one occasion where we were in your office and I saw the amount of work that was expected of for a person with your title. You managed to hold the responsibility of that office and not lose the passion you had to advocate for those with exceptional needs.

Thinking of Marianne now I recall ,of course, her love for the many "special" students who crossed her path in life. She also had a love for music and played the viola. At winter holiday time for a few years Marianne organized a few of us into a musical group which she called "Just Friends." Marianne, Vinnie, Tom V., and myself would play mini concerts for adults with special needs at various places usually on a cold Sunday afternoon. Anyway, I will miss her. Peace. Roy

teaching and showing us that you weren’t just our boss. You were someone who cared and took time to listen. When I was going for surgery I couldn’t believe that you went and got me Holy Water. You told me it’s to protect me this will always be my memory it touched my heart. I still have the bottle it will keep reminding me of you and your love and compassion. She also gave both of my sons jobs to also show them and teach them love and strive for the best. Thank you Marianne you will be missed and your memories will last forever.
