A Miracle Child Has Dawned

May 18, 1925, Adele Atkinson and Charles Durant of Kingston, Jamaica brought forth a son, Sylvester St. George Durant. A Farmer, Comedian, Mayoral Candidate, and Master Carpenter by trade, Sylvester came to America where he met and married Julia Ann Walker of Oyster Bay in October 1955.
By definition, Sylvester was the true measure of a man. His vast knowledge of the Word allowed him to apply GOD’s principles in a wise and understanding way. His spiritual perspective and example of maturity earned him the respect of many as evidenced by the
numerous accolades he received from the community. When reviled, he never retreated or allowed the sun to go down on his anger. The spirit and glory of GOD rest upon him; his behavior never ungodly towards others.
Sylvester lived an exemplary life; he loved all that was good. Like St. Francis, the magnitude of his love extended not only to humanity, but also animals (birds, squirrels, rabbits and chipmunks). His door, like his heart, was always open. He always said no one needed to know all things; especially his thoughts.
Like all of us, he did some things he knew he shouldn’t have but he has been forgiven; Now at last he’s freeThe legacy he leaves behind that can help us in the act of living a good
life is to put to use the legacy of all our late beloved. Children (Surviving): Cheryl, Donna, Charles, Kevin and Zanie. One Son In-Law (Allen), 5 Daughters In-Law (Brenda, Kathy, Maxine, Gloria, and Reenae). Grandchildren: 35+, Great Grandchildren 42+, Great-great grandchildren 15+. Gone too soon: Sylvester (1981), Sheron (1990), Michael and Cassandra (1994) Danny (2000) Julius (2021), Trinity Faith Booker (2011), Erin Serenity Seaman (2012) and Tatiana (2015). He fathered/grandfathered many, too numerous to mention.
We shall not mourn; We shall Celebrate!!
