So many wonderful memories of my cousin Sam, not sufficient space We were born in the same hospital, in March 1946, he was 8 days older, I guess our lives were meant to intertwine. We were raised together, became inseparable. He was my hero, we did everything together. From child hood throughout late teen yrs we had many exciting , adventures, they were the best times of my life. I remember as children our mom's took us to the corner drug store to buy a pail, shovel and bathing cap for me. We would spend our days on the beach digging deep holes, building castles until the water ran through, as kids, we were so excited what we did. In the winter we ice skated at Beaver Dam, Sam taught not to fear playing hockey. Sam was the "idea guy" whatever he wanted to attempt, wherever he wanted to go we did it all together. At driving age, if he wanted to drive from Brooklyn, to Bayville to buy a hot dog at the Pig-n-whistle that's what we did. The news of his passing affected me deeply. No family member notified me. I should have been there to say goodbye to the guy who was an important part of my life. He was my escort for the HS senior prom. I have photos each one tells a story, each one helps me to reflect on beautiful memories.

Q: What will you never forget about Sam?
A: When Sammy (poppy) and Barbra (grandma) brought Daniela and I to the Justin Timberlake concert. It was the best concert ever, Sammy and Barbra made the concert so special. Sammy let us pick any t-shirt we wanted and then we’re the nicest t-shirts. After we stopped on the side of the street to get bagels because Sammy said they were the best bagels that were open late, and he was not wrong. A memory I will never forget.
Another memory, when me and Daniela went to the hospital and we we got Sammy pizza from Pizza Supreme and bought the wrong pizza. We didn’t get the right pizza Sammy wanted but he said he loved it. He kept asking about my family and how everyone was, meanwhile he was in pain, but always put others before himself. A special, kind hearted person who praised his family like no other. Sammy will forever be a person I aspire to be. A man who would light up a room when he walked in.
