Susan, a beautiful, classy woman with a bright smile, a witty sense of humor and a big heart. She always made you feel welcome and an important part of her life. Her love for Tony, Matthew and Catherine was so evident. We are going to miss meeting Susan & Tony for dinner at the Basil Leaf Café and at their home to share laughs, but the memories will last a lifetime. Thankfully, she is at peace with no pain. Love, Joe & Cheryl Carvelli

I felt fortunate to call Susan both a family member and friend. It feels like just yesterday when we would go to barre class together and grab a Starbucks afterwards and laugh at comedy skits we often shared with each other. Our girls trip to Florida with Catherine and Lauren included daily episodes of laughter, crime scene analysis and watching our girls catch rays of sun between clouds. Shopping trips and luncheons were always a fun adventure. My last fond memory of Susan was sitting across from her during a lunch we had in late October at Buckram Stables, she looked so beautiful in the typical Susan Style, her hair was done, make-up perfect and she wore a beautiful shawl, Elena and I so wished we had taken a picture of her that day as we were so proud of her that anyone passing by would never know all that she endured. I think that maybe God put that photo in our hearts because Elena and I often share that lunch date with Susan and how we wished we had taken a photo to share with Catherine and Matthew. She loved you both so very much and her face always lit up when she mentioned your names, but I am confident that you already know this....
Susan was a beacon of kindness-always welcoming everyone into her home and her love of family, pets and friends leaves behind many sad and broken hearts. Susan, you will always be in my heart as a woman of true class and grace. Thank you for your kindness, love and laughter. XO Christine

I have many fond memories of Susan and her family back when we met at Portledge. So many times spent gathering at their Centre Island home …. Watching our kids play , sledding down their backyard hill in the winter and summer BBQ’s endlessly trying to escape those horrible horse flies. But none of those ever happened on an empty stomach . Susan was the ultimate hostess and sous chef to her husband Tony, as he would demonstrate his master chef skills in the kitchen . My deepest condolences to her wonderful family . A life taken too soon …. She will be surely missed .
With Love, Mary Martin

I met Susan probably over 20 years ago. I was one of the owners of Two Worlds . Susan started taking my cardio barre classes . She was so dedicated to her fitness routine. She attended a class that was extremely challenging. She never gave up and always had a smile on her face. After recovering from breast cancer, she returned to my class, she was so thankful to be back. During Covid, we had taught the class online she was not comfortable zooming in, but could not wait for the restrictions to be lifted for her to come back in person. I posted a picture of her first class back in the studio after Covid . I never stopped thinking about her over this last year . I reached out often , had some text messages back-and-forth . She always sounded positive until I spoke to her last January. My heart is broken. I’m very sad for your family. She was a beautiful soul.

I remember her gentle soul as my daughter KAHLEY and her son Matthew shared pre school years at Portledge . She was there for me when I was diagnosed with breast cancer and even went with me to get a wig . I spent many good times at her home for wonderful dinners and Xmas parties. She’s was a dedicated mom and wife and will be missed by many. My love to Tony, Matthew and Catherine Sincerely Kathleen Stanco

Susan English was a joy to know. She was a loving, sharing and gracious friend. Many hours were shared on the tennis court both in Locust Valley and at her home in Centre Island. She and Tony opened up their beautiful homes countless times with delicious food, camaraderie and countless laughs. I was lucky to know her and her loving family. She was and is a treasured friend.
