In Loving Memory of Lynn Gormley

It is with profound respect and sadness that we announce the passing of Lynn Gormley, who departed this life on June 26, 2024. Born on August 14, 1947, in Brooklyn, NY, Lynn was the cherished daughter of Harry and Florence ("Flo" or "Gigi") O'Donnell. She was the beloved wife of the late Edward Gormley and a devoted mother to Gregory and Paul Booth. She will be dearly missed by her daughter-in-law, Karla Booth (Paul’s spouse), and her grandchildren, Roan, Agust ("Augie"), and Emma.

Lynn's life was filled with vibrant hobbies and passions, including:

  • Biking on her tricycle along the boardwalk on Long Beach’s oceanfront
  • Golf
  • Enjoying the beach and ocean
  • Crocheting and donating hundreds of handmade blankets to children and parents in need
  • Hosting and entertaining at holiday gatherings, annual Christmas tree cutting events, Kentucky Derby parties, and various other special occasions

A courageous 25-year cancer survivor, Lynn embraced the long-term impacts of cancer with remarkable strength and grace. She faced her health challenges with dignity, managing her tracheostomy and feeding tube quietly while dedicating her care and attention to others.

Fiercely independent, Lynn raised her sons with limited support, creating a resilient foundation that inspired them to embrace life’s challenges and become devoted parents.

In recent months, Lynn bravely battled health complications leading to six weeks of intensive hospital care. Despite her valiant efforts through various stages of care, Lynn found peace and rest on June 26. We take solace in knowing she is reunited with her late husband, Ed, perhaps riding her bike and enjoying the warmth of the sun along the waterfront.

Lynn had a special love for spring colors, especially purple. In her honor, we invite all who attend her services to wear purple as a tribute to her vibrant spirit.

A funeral service to celebrate Lynn's life will be held at Oyster Bay Funeral Home this Sunday from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. A Mass will be celebrated at St. Gertrude’s in Bayville on Monday at 11:00 AM, followed by her entombment at Pinelawn Cemetery in Farmingdale.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Lynn’s memory to Support for People with Oral and Head and Neck Cancer (SPOHNC) 78 Forest Ave, Locust Valley, NY 11560
