Kieran Doran, truly a man for others, passed away Friday, November 1, 2024, surrounded by his family at home following a fierce battle against multiple myeloma. The love of Kieran’s life was his wife of over 26 years, Susan, whom he met at Boston College. His proudest legacy is the beautiful family they raised together: Caroline and Grace (23), Liam (21), and Luke (18).

Kieran was a man of the highest principles and integrity. In addition to raising his family, he mentored many nephews, nieces, and young people starting their careers. He was unfailingly generous to people in an anonymous way, never calling attention to himself.

Kieran was known to his family and friends for having a razor-sharp wit that sometimes came out of nowhere.

A lifelong resident of the North Shore, Kieran is an alumnus of Chaminade High School, class of 1987. He graduated from Boston College in 1991 and received his Master of Business Administration from the University of Virginia Darden School of Business in 1998.

Kieran had an illustrious career: He had over twenty-five years of experience in banking, most recently as a Managing Director at Barclays Investment Bank, Global Head of Aerospace & Defense. Prior to Barclays, Kieran was at Rothschild & Co.,where he was a Managing Director and led coverage of the Aerospace & Defense sector. In 2015, Mr. Doran served as an Executive-in-Residence with Warburg Pincus, a New York-based private equity firm, where he sourced and vetted investments in the Defense sector. Before joining Warburg Pincus in 2013, Mr. Doran spent over a decade focusing on M&A and strategy in the Aerospace & Defense industry. During that time, he led Corporate Development for L3 Technologies, Inc. and later BAE Systems, Inc. Mr. Doran began his career in 2000 in the Telecommunications banking group at Credit Suisse.

Kieran was an avid golfer and a member of the Creek Club for 25 years. He loved lacrosse, having played at Chaminade and Boston College and volunteered as a lacrosse coach for middle school boys. Kieran was an excellent skier and taught his children to ski at Windham Mountain in upstate New York, the same mountain where he grew up skiing with family and friends.
