Dear Patrick, Lorraine & Linda,
Please forgive me for not being able to attend Sonia's wake in person. I am recovering from very painful double knee replacement therapy, and I am having a difficult time with it. I tried very hard for 2 days to find the strength to be there. Sonia, was a dear friend and I loved her very much. These last few years have been heart breaking watching her struggle for her survival. We were all so proud of her brave fight. Dottie Herman, the owner of the company wanted to take me to the wake. She also knew and loved Sonia. The whole company was touched by her passing, many people knew her from her earlier years with the company and many lived through the stories of those who did. My deepest sympathies to all of you. please understand how sorry I am that I couldn't be there for you in person. My heart has been pained all week since i learned of her passing. If there is anything that I could do please ask. Sonia will always be remembered for the wonderful loving wife, mother and friend to all who knew her. You were truly blessed to have her in your lives.
With love & sympathy,
Fern Karhu

Dear Linda & Lorraine,
You have my deepest sympathy.
This is a poem by an author unknown.
Now that I am gone,
remember me with smiles and laughter.
And if you need to cry,
cry with your sister who walks in grief beside you.
And when you need me, put your arms around anyone and give to them what you need to give to me.
There are so many who need so much.
I want to leave you something -- something much better than words or sounds.
Look for me in the people I've known or helped in some special way.
Let me live in your heart as well as in your mind.
You can love me most by letting your love reach out to our loved ones, by embracing them and living in their love.
Love does not die, people do.
So, when all that's left of me is love, give me away as best you can.

Sonia was a treasured friend as well as a co worker. She set an example for all of us. She showed us how through strength an determination you fight to live life to its fullest, and you never give up. Sonia always had a bright smile, and was always more interested in how you were than to bore you with the details of what she was going through. Sonia was my hero. May her family be blessed with wonderful memories that you shared with her. I pray that the pain of your loss will turn to joy when remembering what a special person Sonia was.She touched the lives of all who knew her. I will always remember her with love and keep the fond memories we shared close to my heart.
Love,
Fern
