Mr. Lucas was like a father to me. I loved him like he was my own dad. I can never thank him enough for everything he has done for me over the past for years. Becoming friends with Danielle my freshman year of college was such a blessing. It brought me so close to her amazing family. I will truly miss him and I cherish all the memories we have together. Not only were you my brother, but also a best friend and a second father. You have done so much for me as a family member, a mentor, and most of all a brother. I met Mr. Lucas only one time. We spent several hours together on that day, in which we spoke about many subjects, mostly business. In those few hours, he taught me a lot about business. He taught me a lot about myself. At the end of that encounter, Mr. Lucas said goodnight and then said to me “you’re a part of my family now”. That will always stay with me. I don't have many memories about Mike I've only met him a half dozen times. But I wanted to leave this message for Danielle, Olivia and Mike. I lost my father in November of 2009, he was only 48. I know how hard these times are and the pain and sadness is more than anyone needs. The healing process is worse.
My dad left my brother and my mother and myself not even 5 months ago and not a day goes by that I'm not sad for him. Life is never going to be the same but it goes on. Be as happy as you can I'm sure he woudln't want you to be sad. You have eachother, don't take it for granted. I know exactly what you're going through so if you ever need someone to be sad with don't hesitate to come talk to me.

My name is Angela Bereche. I am the secretary of Sigma Iota Theta. A local sorority at Rhode Island College, who chose the philanthropy of A Wish Come True, Inc. this year. Fortunately Michael was able to donate just days before his death. The sisters of Sigma Iota Theta are thankful for his donation and are so sorry for the loss that his family has suffered. He has truely donated to an amazing organization, and because of him we can now grant the wish of a terminally ill child somewhere in Rhode Island and Southern Mass.

My deepest sympathies to Annette, Danielle, Olivia, Michael and the entire Lucas family. I had the pleasure and honor of knowing Mike for over 20years. As a businessman, he was tough. As a mentor, he was one of the best. As a friend, his love and support was tremendous. He always treated you as if you were a member of his family. When my nephew died suddenly as a result of a car accident, Mike came to his wake. Words cannot express how much that meant to me and to my brother and his family. It helped me get through a very difficult time.
When Mike came to my office, he made it a point to stop at everyone's desk and ask how they were doing and was everything okay. You always knew when he was in the building by his laughter and smile(and cologne!) You were always greeted with a kiss and a hug. He always left with a kiss and a hug.
To Danielle, Olivia and Michael--be strong for one another and for your Mom.
Know that your father touched the lives of many. Be comforted to know that he is in our thoughts and prayers. May God comfort you and keep you safe.

Annette, I am so sorry for you and your family, what a shock and a staggering loss, I only found out today. The last time I was over at your house to work on your computers only a month ago, Mike was busy working out in the basement, and I told him I admired him and have to start getting a bit of exercise myself. His untimely death at least for me is a sobering and grim reminder of our own mortality (Mike and I are the same age), and how certain things should never be taken for granted.
Someone else said Mike was the heart and soul of L&R and they were right. Mike just seemed larger than life in terms his presence and the respect he commanded. I'll never forget how he told me I was part of the family many years ago in the Brooklyn office.
For what it's worth, please don't hesitate to keep in touch with me.

I have been with L&R for 13 yrs. but I have known Mike for over 25 yrs.. I remember when I worked for the Love Store and Mike would come to our manager's meetings. He always had such a wonderful sense of humor and such a loving way of treating others. He was very persuassive and always got us to buy his products. Mike, it was three years ago since you welcomed me into your L&R family. When I first met you, I remember sitting across from you in Deer Park so unsure of my future and you told me that you wanted me to stay on and run your accounts receivable department. I was so nervous, because you had the same look that my dad had. I remember telling you that you reminded me of my dad. You know when you did not have to say a word, you would just gibe me that look and I knew you were not happy about something. I remember going over A/R for the first time with you and said to myself “Oh My God” what did I get myself into. But over the past three years I grew to love and respect you as a person and a boss. You were always very kind and thoughtful and I always knew that you meant what you said and I respect you for that. Every time you came in you would greet me with a hug and a kiss. I will miss that. Even with you yelling and screaming at me about where you wanted me to be with collections, I still liked working for you. I don’t know if Ed had a chance to tell you, but you’re screaming worked, we went from 40 days in March of 09 to 26 days in March of 2010. I will continue to work hard and do my best to get you’re A/R Dept. where you wanted it to be. And let me tell you, it is not going to be as easy. It was always nice to have the Mike Lucas name to throw around. My only regret is that you will not be there to tell me how much you appreciate it. You made all of us at L&R want to work hard for you. You once thanked me for driving to Brooklyn and told me how much it meant to you, well let me tell you that I feel so fortunate to have had the opportunity to meet you and work for you. The place will never be the same. I am truly going to miss you. To Annette, Danielle, Oliva and Michael, I am deeply sorry for your loss. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

About Four years ago I was at a resturant in Port Washington, a boat docks and about 6-7 guys get off and walk into the resturant. I tought movie actor came in ,the way this person was greeted. I had to ask my friend, who owned the place. who is that guy? He turned and said, A great person and a friend.(it was Mike Lucas I didn't know him at that time) Two years later my drivers are talking about this new client Mike Lucas, His office called for a car , and the drivers were fighting over who was to drive him. I said what's up with this client ? they said at the same time, he's the greatest and a friend. I said to fata, let's go I want to meet him. I am so happy I did.,He became a great friend. I never meet such a great person! When you are around Mike Lucas it was like you were with a movie star or president!

I only knew Mike for a short time. What I remember the most about Mike was his kindness. Tragedy has struck three times for me this year within three months. Sometimes you may think that nothing can ever be positive and there is nothing else to look forward to since things that are so dear are being ripped right out of your arms. One thing that stuck to me and helped me through when my 11yr old nephew passed away in April was this saying. "God shall wipe all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death,
nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

Its hard going through the suffering and pain but what brings me joy is the things and people that are around us at this moment. My nephew and brother live through their stories and most of all their smiles that can always relive in our hearts. Thats the things are cherish cause even though they are taken from us the memories remain and will never die. Be strong and have lots of faith its the only thing that can get you through.
