Dear Richard. I'm sorry that your father has passed. He was a fascinating force of nature.
My mother died a couple of years ago, too.
I've often wondered how you are.

John Nussbaum was one of the most talented and generous people I have met. He freely shared his hard-won knowledge of stained glass with many -- including those of us who worked with him at Glassmasters. I was privileged to be able to see him again when he gave a class on stained glass painting in Philadelphia. Annette and Richard, I am very sorry for your loss. He will always be remembered with affection and gratitude by many.

I never knew John, Annette, but stained glass artists are one-of-a-kind spirits as John surely must have been. Sending loving thoughts your way at this time.

I met John when I was twenty years old. He and his associate, Dick Millard, were my stained glass teachers. John was a patient and encouraging teacher. His knowledge about all types of things inspired immediate respect. I would go to John for advice and he always provided thoughtful choices to consider. He told me life was like a giant catalog and it is up to the person to select what they want to place in their life. His gentle persuasion influenced all aspects of my life. When I met him, I never predicted that I would become his future daughter-in-law, his son’s wife and his only grandson’s mother. John was wonderful to me and he reflected recently that we go back together a long time. It was my great fortune to be his student in the arts and his family member. I am grateful that he was such a wonderful person and I will continue to miss him always.

I am so sorry to hear that John has died. I was thinking of him recently while reminiscing on my early years in NYC. He was a close friend and mentor to me when we both worked at the Rambusch and later. Though we lost touch with each other in recent times, I remember him with great affection.

My brother-in-law John was that rare man who stayed young beyond his time. He was always ready to share a story or a joke. I shall miss him always, the Saints are in good company with John at their table tonight. Goodbye old friend. I hope to see you again when my time also comes.
