Richy,
The first time I ever met you was when you and Andrew picked me up for the movies four years ago; we saw Valkyrie. The hoodie you were wearing had Yoshi on it, and right when I saw it I knew I'd love you before I had even heard you speak. You had the unfortunate pleasure of sitting next to me that night, as I was extremely lost the entire movie and asked you around 43 questions, without exaggerating. I do this often and it tends to annoy everyone, but you answered every single question with all the patience in the world and wanted to make sure I understood it. It was then that I knew how special you were.
Over the years, we bonded over our loves of math and science. You helped me get through some calc 3 homework assignments, and you're the only person I know that could have. Just a month ago, March 30th, we were together and you asked me how school was going. When I told you my extremely verbose thesis research question expecting you to laugh at me, you pulled me in, gave me a hug and said, "I understood every word of that mess and that's why I love you."
I learned so much this past week. You've affected my life in more and bigger ways than either of us ever could have known or imagined. I will hold on to that forever.
May you rest above the stars knowing how appreciated and loved you are by all who know you. We will all be together again soon enough, and until then we will miss you in every moment of every day. I thank Andrew greatly for bringing us together. I love you forever, Richy D'Antonio.

I met Richy in the math department at C.W. Post. We took several classes together and I was always impressed by his intelligence, his inquisitive nature, and his outgoing personality. He drove our professors crazy but he was not interested in sitting back and taking in a rote lecture. He wanted the classes to be interactive and valuable for him. I will always respect that attitude of seeking out the knowledge you want and never letting anyone discourage you from asking questions. He was a pleasure to be in class with and I'm very sad to hear of his passing. My heart goes out to his family and friends.

You are trully missed Richy! I enjoyed all our time together working on the MMS star tracker optical bench assemblies. You were always willing to support at any time ( remembering our work during the third shifts on the baffles). You stepped up no mater what the task and enjoyed the responsibility and the challenges. Thoughts and prayers are with you and your family from my family. - Sincerely, Milton

During the past two years, Richy had become an invaluable member of our Thermal Subsystem team, readily stepping in to solve problems, cheerfully accepting late-night shift work, and bringing his work ethic and a refreshing "can-do" attitude to every assignment. His passing is a terrible loss, and I offer my hopes and prayers that God will embrace Richy's spirit and solace his grieving family.

The entire MMS mission team at NASA was saddened by the heartbreaking news of Richy's death. Richy had worked here only two short years, joining us straight out of college but he was a rising star whose skill and work belied his young age. NASA was very fortunate Richy chose to come here to work. Our MMS Team will forever have a hole it without Richy here with us. Our hearts go out to his family and friends.

I had the privilege of meeting Richie at the Minutoli home years ago and later at CW POST COLLEGE. His star shone at Locust Valley High School and again at LIU/Post. He was a very articulate, bright, focused, gifted, altruistic and highly intelligent young man. I was very impressed after chatting with him several times and hearing of his dreams for the future. He certainly achieved that and more! His very sudden passing is a shock to all who knew and loved this wonderful person. Yet his bright and shining demeanor will forever brighten the Heavens. We who are still here are forever blessed for having known Richie and will tuck away his beautiful persona in our hearts. God bless you forever and throughout Eternity dear Richie.
