May Dennis rest in peace with his parents and sister.
Growing up in Ireland, my mother (Molly Hunt) often spoke about the Holland family, and particularly after Jimmy Holland visited our house, during the late sixties or early seventies.

How Sad for you, the Holland family. I am so saddened by this news, especially in light of the events of years ago that caused so much grief and sadness for your family then. There is really no justice in this world. May the Hollands have peace going forward, and may Kathleen and Dennis have eternal peace. So sorry, folks.

It is with great sadness that I send my condolences. The people who worked at the Nassau County Board of Elections with Denis - from both parties- became aware of his ability quickly. He led the Board of Elections through the enormous job of computerizing the voting records of all the voters in Nassau County. His knowledge and his ability earned the respect of everyone involved in the immense job. Nassau County owes Denis a great debt. It is with a heavy heart that I send my love.

Dedicated to comforting families of murdered children, I met Dennis while he advocated for legislation with elected officials. He had boundless energy and dedication to his life's mission. He was kind, compassionate and committed. Despite his sadness he brought laughter wherever he went. He never spoke badly about anyone. He will live on in the hearts of the countless people he touched.

I’m so grateful I got to see Dennis in Orlando in 2016 at the POMC conference. I hadn’t seen him for many years but recognized him right away. I know that he really loved his sister and did so much in her memory. I’m sure they are reunited in heaven now!

My bff Dennis, I don't even know where to start...you were the best friend anyone could have. I am so blessed to have shared 35 plus years with you, you were a beautiful person inside & out. Kind, generous, loving, giving & always there for me. Despite the tragedy of losing Kathleen, you chose to honor her by doing so many beautiful acts for other people, you were selfless.i will cherish all of my memories spent with you, I will eventually smile when I think of you because I know that's what you would want. I felt blessed to be with you as you started your journey to heaven, holding your hand. RIP my friend, I'll see you again. ❤❤

Dennis was my first Supervisor/Boss when I started working at the Nassau County Board of Elections in February of 2000 in his Computer Department. He was an easy and fun loving boss, and VERY SMART, too. It was a very historic time for the Board, as they were finally switching over from the big old Election Day old huge and dirty books to Computerized much smaller and clean ones! And Dennis made it a breeze to accomplish. Lots of work, and lots of smiles.
I'm so very sorry for the loss of your beloved Dennis. I was honored to have known him and to have worked under his guidance and super-vision.
Don't RIP though Den.... party on! God Bless you. XOXO

Den, my feelings are all over the place, I hope you heard us as Angelo held the phone to your ears. We wanted you to wake up. We wanted to hear you were sitting up laughing, but knowing you would have been anxious wondering what happened to you. We were wondering that as well.
I want you to know, I know you can read our minds and our ♥️ hearts ♥️. I know you see our tears and our WTH’s. But would we call you back selfishly, want you to spend more time alone with your long time loneliness and sadness? Pinning away for the life so cruelly taken away by the deaths of all you loved, I see these beautiful happy family pictures of so many yesterdays. No Dennis, I couldn’t push you to come back to us, with all your Golden tomorrows right there on the brink you were balancing on.
Dennis, I enjoyed so many years in friendship and partnership with you. Oh yes sometimes I did want to shake you, but who didn’t.
I have no regrets in saying “go Dennis Holland, go. Your loves are waiting. We your friends can only revel in the joy of your reunion with them. My heart ❤️ is heavy for all you suffered here. I tried to fill a tiny part of those gaps, I think I did. I am filled with love for your journey home.
You believed in God. I know you did and I know he brought you to Kathleen, your Dad and Mom, Grandma too.
You and your work will never be replaced, actually the way we worked together can never be replicated. I love you, impossible to forget anything about you.
The heart remembers when it has been touched by another heart! Thank you for all you did for so many for so long.
When you get the chance introduce Kathleen to Jimmy, after all they were the reason we clicked as a team. Till we meet again. Fill muid le chéile arís.

I met Dennis through politics and a better friend I'll never find. We supported each others campaign for races we couldn't win. Spent many nights drinking at Soundside in Bayville with Dennis telling us very funny stories. He was a great guy, a wonderful friend who endured through too many tragedies of his family. Dennis you will always live on in my heart and will be forever missed by me. I can always hear him say to me, kevy kevy kevy, when he would begin to tell me I was wrong about something. I'll miss his laugh and great sense of humor. Thank you Denny for being my friend. Xoxo
