Please share a memory of James to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
James C. Boland, of Dix Hills, New York, passed away on June 22, 2020 leaving a large and loving circle of family and friends wondering who will now make them laugh, be their wise counsel, and engage them in spirited conversation. He is survived by his beloved life partner, June Conboy, his adored daughter, Mary Boland; his dear step children June Carter, Karen Kelly, Diana Conboy, Maureen Traynor, George Conboy, and Debbie Bukunt; his cherished grandchildren Christen LaLumia, Maureen Russo, Laura Kelly, Eddie Kelly, Teal Carter, Colleen Regan, Erin Regan, Matthew Traynor, Kerrie Burkett, Luke Conboy, and Mei-Lynn Bukunt; eight astonishing great grandchildren; his "one and only" brother, David Boland; treasured nieces Liz Burro and Tricia Boland; dear friend, Beth Boland, and many other loving relatives and friends. Jim was known for his keen mind, his interest in law, history, and politics, and his baked beans. A graduate of Fordham Law, he enjoyed a distinguished career as an Assistant District Attorney, serving in both Queens and Nassau Counties. Always active, he was an avid skier and golfer, with occasional detours into tennis, jogging, biking, and scuba. A do-it-yourselfer, he taught himself carpentry, plumbing and basic electrical and could fix almost anything. His quick wit and poker face were unmatched. Deeply kind, he routinely and quietly went out of his way for people he cared about, and also, sometimes, people he barely knew. In sum, a unique and extraordinary man, and a life well lived. If you would like to remember Jim, contributions may be made in his name to the Prostate Cancer Foundation at https://www.pcf.org/. Or, just help continue his legacy by living his motto: "Do good; avoid evil." He'd like that.
