Nelly and I were saddened to hear of Leonard's passing.
He was one of a kind: intelligent and witty. His conversations always reflected his vast knowledge and thoughtful analysis. Well-read and always anxious to learn something new, he was a delight.
A devoted family man he was proud of his family. He always had a pleasant story about his grandchildren's accomplishments.
On the wry side his colorful socks were frequently a point of departure for yet another story of his successful legal career.
May he rest in peace and thanks for the memories!

I send my heartfelt condolences to dearest Monique and the Sheft family. I cherish the memory of my visits to the lovely Sheft home on Long Island where Leonard always made me feel so very welcome. I admired his generosity to causes where there was a true need
At large parties, we would find a corner where we could have a very meaningful and intellectual conversation. I will always remember his wit and great sense of humor. May he rest in peace.

Edgar and I were definitely touched by Leonard. We enjoyed his company and discussions after our lectures in political science at FAU. He was very current in world affairs. His analysis, feedback and observations were very stimulating and educational. We also have found memories of many operas we enjoyed with his favored risotto dinner afterwards. Leonard could be very humorous at times and proudly showed his favored green socks with a misschieves smile. Leonard we will treasure the times you shared with us and you will always remain in our hearts.
