Regan, Stephen D. - Quietly at home on October 22, 2010. age 90, of the U.S. Virgin Islands and former resident of Bayville, NY. Steve was known to many on Long Island as the president and owner of Regal Cadillac, Inc. in Glen Cove NY and later Greenvale NY where he enjoyed many years of business success in the automobile industry. He was also one of the founding members of the Independent Tax Party of Bayville with James Aylmer and Thomas Alfano. Steve had a much traveled and storied life. Born in New York City and raised in upstate NY, Steve was a graduate of Union College and Syracuse University. He also served in the United States Merchant Marine before going on to serve as a First Lieutenant of the Army Air Corps in World War II where he was decorated for his service in the Pacific theater. During his retirement on the U.S.V.I. island of St. Croix and his ancestral home in upstate NY, he greatly enjoyed entertaining friends and family and pursuing his lifelong passion for tennis. He spent much of his time organizing and hosting charity events benefiting children's welfare such as the St. Croix Queen Louise Home for Children and the American Cancer Society. Steve possessed a keen sense of humor and will be fondly remembered by his family and friends. Steve is survived by his wife Josephine of 47 years, daughters Sheila Sealy (Chip) of Cold Spring Harbor NY and Alanna Regan (Christa) of Port Jefferson, NY, son Dennis P. Regan (Deborah) of Cambridge, NY and Janice R. DeRocker (deceased) of Gloversville, NY. Steve is also survived by his grandchildren Rob, Kelly, Jeffrey, Darcy, Erin, Palmer and Regan and numerous great-grandchildren. Funeral Services Private. Care entrusted to Oyster Bay Funeral Home.
